Dona Flor e i suoi due mariti

Il romanzo ruota attorno alla vedovanza di dona Flor e al suo lutto stretto, vissuto nel ricordo di Vadinho, delle loro ambizioni, del fidanzamento e dello sposalizio. Coglie l'intimità della giovane vedova, il suo riserbo, le sue notti insonni e la sua insoddisfazione. Racconta di come arrivò onorata al suo secondo matrimonio, quando il fardello del defunto cominciava a pesare sulle sue spalle, e di come visse in pace e armonia, senza dispiaceri né soprassalti, con suo bravo secondo marito, nel mondo della farmacologia e della musica. E mentre lei brilla nei salotti e il coro dei vicini le ricorda la sua felicità, Vadinho, nel suo corpo astrale, la visita, la corteggia, le elargisce gioie eccezionali e consigli formidabili.
